Officials: Two Marion public officials indicted
Marion County, S.C. (WPDE) — A Marion County grand jury indicted two city officials in connection with misconduct in office, criminal conspiracy and causing or permitting pollution of the environment, according to court officials.
The case is being prosecuted by the S.C. Attorney General’s Office, according Communications Director for the SC Attorney General’s Office Robert Kittle.
We’ve requested a copy of the indictments to learn the name of the officials and the allegations surrounding the charges, but Kittle said he’s still waiting to get copies of the indictments from the Marion County Clerk of Court’s Office.
Our call to the Marion County Clerk of Court’s Office hasn’t been returned as of around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Kittle said the two officials could be arraigned this week on the charges against them.
We will report additional information as soon as it becomes available to us.
